2014 Bastrop Bridge
As if in the Air
I dreamed last night that I could fly.
High I’d soar deep into this rich blue sky.
Scary it was as the winds carried me away.
Without a care I embraced the Midsummer Day.
I began to laugh at the birds that perched to watch me play.
“Featherless and fearless he is”, I could hear them say.
With a wink I smiled and whistled a favorite song.
I giggled with them as they began to sing along.
It was a cooing dove that ended my dream.
He always does with the mornings gleam.
Tonight I will rest with a feeling of hope.
That the birds and I will again elope.
